What you’ll need

Tents
Your tent will need to cope with sun, rain and wind – and offer enough space for a longer trip. Choose one with a rainsafe entry to keep the interior dry, mesh door panels for bug-proofing, and high hydrostatic head for stability. A porch area is great for wet boots and coats.

Sleeping bags
It can get very chilly at night so go for all-season sleeping bags that will keep you toasty at altitude and in lower temperatures. Flock airbeds add much needed comfort on longer trips. Take blankets too.

Furniture
Choose comfy furniture that fits in your tent’s living space, and a folding table for cooking and dining. Fire pits are amazing for stargazing, as they’ll keep you warm outside the tent.

Accessories
A hot drink and meal on a cold day is invaluable, which is why you’ll need a burner stove that can be used inside and outside the tent.
